Your Winston-Salem Area Residential Electrician

Whether you’re upgrading an older home to accommodate modern electrical needs or simply want to make things more efficient, your solution is a phone call away. We’re licensed and insured, and our work is in accordance with the latest building safety codes. That new room expansion you’ve been planning will look great when it’s finished, but it will also require additional electrical work. Hiring an electrical contractor for additions and renovation projects ensures two things:

    1. Power will be correctly and safely run to the new area for full functionality
    1. Your breaker box and overall electrical system can handle the increased demands of new appliances

In cases where your current electrical system isn’t powerful enough to handle new areas, we can help with installing hardware that safely handles your home’s power requirements. Don’t install new fixtures and appliances with doubts in your mind. A professional checkup can avoid a lot of hassle. Today’s electrical standards are different.

Just think of how different our electrical needs are today from 50 years ago. Houses built in that time period and before were planned with few appliances in mind. Other than kitchen appliances and general household lighting, people didn’t have multiple TVs and computers, or internet streaming to half a dozen mobile devices at once. Everything from the circuit breaker to the wiring in the walls was set up accordingly and meant for lower overall current than today’s needs. If you’re living in an older house, it might be less safe than you realize. Too much current running through electrical systems can cause a build up of heat (among other concerns) and lead to fire hazards. Rewiring your home’s electrical systems to be in-line with modern standards is never a bad idea. But more than simply the capacity to handle more electricity, modern electrical setups can include some other niceties that make sense for families with several devices that need power each day. Outlets with USB ports built into them or even smart home systems are a couple simple examples of that. If you’ve been considering those types of additions to your home, we can help select and install them.

Smart home installation and setup

Speaking of next-gen homes, we’re equipped to handle all kinds of modern upfits. From smart thermostats to complete systems you can control from your smartphone, it’s more affordable than you may think to take that leap forward. The ability to control your home’s temperature, monitor security systems, and even change the brightness and color of lights around your home — all remotely — will transform your personal life. Even your doorbell can be linked to these systems. The term home network is taking on a new meaning with the advancement of smart home technology. Now the devices you use most each day can synchronize and allow you to manage your life to a whole new degree. But beyond how convenient smart home systems are, they can also increase the efficiency of your home. (And in turn, lower your energy bills.) Smart thermostats, for instance, allow you to program specific times and circumstances to adjust temperature, or even optionally make automatic adjustments to decrease energy usage. This of course is also useful when you’re away on vacation to be able to monitor your home’s security as well as adjust temperature conditions to suit the situation.Smart security systems can monitor the comings and goings of your home. If you’re a parent or are caring for elderly family, this can relieve some of the pressure of keeping track of where everyone is or when they leave. You can even program alerts to be sent to you when certain conditions are met.

Charging stations for your electric vehicles

Owning a next-gen electric vehicle means you’ll need a way to keep it charged up. There are several options for home charging stations, but we can help you select and install the right one for your needs. Some ports use a regular three-prong 120-volt connection, which is simpler to install but doesn’t charge your vehicle as quickly. This method is recommended for overnight charging and not for when you’re only home for a few hours. The other primary solution for charging stations is the 240-volt route. This requires installation within a dedicated 40-amp circuit (at the minimum). This connection uses the same wiring setup as your clothes dryer. The major benefit is that it will charge your vehicle much faster — more than twice as fast in many cases.
